Stirring
The speed control of the Halogen Hotplate and Hotplate Stirrer is much superior to simple stirrers. In addition to slow acceleration of the stir bar, it also has a linear responses speed scale, to give reproducible and highly controllable stirring.

Infra-Red Halogen Heating
Unlike conventional hotplates, which heat by conduction, the Bibby Sterilin Halogen Hotplate and Halogen Hotplate Stirrer utilize infra-red energy which directly heats the liquid itself. The result is faster heating, with boiling times reduced by up to 40%.
